Good-Bye

World War Two hero and conscientious objector given farewell salute

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - The veteran dubbed by a book title as "The Unlikeliest Hero" has been laid to rest.
Desmond Doss refused to carry a weapon during his World War Two service in the Pacific. And he's the only conscientious objector from that war to receive the military's highest honor.
The 87-year-old veteran was given a 21-gun salute and a farewell flyover by military helicopters yesterday in Tennessee.
A fellow veteran says Doss "wanted to serve -- he just didn't want to kill anybody." And Fred Headrick says, unlike many Medal of Honor recipients, Doss received his citation for saving lives, rather than taking them.
While under enemy fire on Okinawa, Doss carried 75 wounded soldiers to the edge of a 400-foot cliff and lowered them to safety. When a later grenade attack wounded his legs, Doss crawled from his stretcher to direct medics to a more critically injured man.
------

Doss was a devout Seventh-day Adventist and pacifist. He lived his beliefs and died a true American Hero. I can't wait to meet him in heaven.

What i like about you is the you chose this blog to have an uncomprehensable title: random thougts what could just be the opposite of fate, cohesion and coincidence. Why do you want to spill random thoughts as it may distract you from your interests.

On my blog i also placed random articles and probably i did it for the same reasons:
i want many people to find somthing of interest on my blog.

It was nice visiting you.
Kind regards,
